Christmas Themed Wedding at Fairchild Tropical Garden
It’s the most wonderful time of the year and the sunny blue skies and mild weather makes it the most wonderful time of the year to get married in South Florida. That was exactly Elizabeth and Aaron’s thought when planning their elegant, Christmas Themed Fairchild Tropical Garden Wedding in Coral Gables, FL. It was a true Christmas affair with lots of reds, greens and browns and a lovebird theme throughout.
The ceremony took place at the Bailey Palm Glade overlooking a palm tree lined lake at sunset. The brides mother – an Episcopalian minister – performed the traditional ceremony under the shade of a lush rose covered arch. After the ceremony, guests boarded trams and were escorted to the cocktail and reception area.
Cocktails for the 350 guests, took place at the Ellipse Mosaic where they enjoyed views of the Arboretum’s canopy and Pandanus Lake. While enjoying delicious hors d’oeuvres, guests were invited to find their names on hand painted, watercolor escort card boards and “leaf” their fingerprints on the tree guestbook. The glowing peak tent with draped walls, gave guests a little mystery in guessing what the reception entailed.
Dramatic ceiling lighting, wreath wrapped molding and 3 different centerpieces wowed guests once inside the Lakeside Marquee. From flocked mini Christmas trees to deconstructed Christmas tress to crystal-covered candles holders with wreaths laid beneath, each table was adorned with various vintage Christmas figurines and gave each table a unique feel.
The side of the tent that faced the Pandanus Lake was left open to allow for stunning views throughout the evening. It made for a lovely backdrop for the white on white 3-tier cake accented with red berries and beautiful fondant lovebirds. Another set of lovebirds accented the table along with a Christmas wreath and crystal covered votives.
The 10 piece Frank Sinatra-esque band entertained all night with covers of all the best hits. At the end of the night, guests bid the couple adieu with lace and ribbon wands. All in all it was an incredible night!
