What to Bring to Your Engagement Session
A few weeks ago I talked about the importance of engagement sessions. Read about it here! This past weekend I had the exciting opportunity to take part in my own engagement photo session. I was a bundle of nerves leading up to the big day. Having a camera constantly pointed at my fiancé and me was an overwhelming proposition. However, I know how much engagement sessions help with establishing a rhythm with the photographer and getting us comfortable in front of a camera. Special thanks to Robert Madrid for his amazing photos!

Of course, I wanted my engagement session to be great. We decided on a travel theme since my fiancé and I have been long-distance for our entire relationship. The locations were some lovely parks in Palm Beach and Jupiter (a nod to our love of nature) and the beach (where we had our “first” date). The props were fun and really helped bring out the silliness in our personalities. Have you ever tried throwing a giant foam plane against the wind and have come back to attack you? Hilarious!
But beyond the props, there are things you need with you during an engagement session. Just as you would make an emergency kit for your wedding day, you should make an emergency kit for you engagement session.
Here’s what you should definitely include!
– Off! (Essential for any wooded/garden/outdoor areas)
– Water
– Towel
– Extra Outfits: complete with shoes, accessories and proper undergarments
– Comfy Shoes
– Off! (It’s so important I listed it twice)
– Make-Up Kit for Touch-ups
– Hair Gel/Hair Spray
– Snack
– Portable, battery powered fan
– Blotting Sheets
– Umbrella (For rain or for shade)
– Suntan lotion
– Headache Medicine
– Music player with Speakers
